Glossary · Off-site
Backlink.
A link from another website to yours. Search engines treat them as evidence that a site is worth showing, weighted heavily by how trustworthy and relevant the linking site is.
Why it matters.
For a local business the useful ones come from suppliers, trade associations, sponsorships, local press and genuine partners. Bought links and bulk directory packages range from worthless to actively harmful. Original data is the most reliable way to earn them, which is why our GTA survey is published free and open to citation.
How to check it yourself.
List the ten organisations that already know you — suppliers, associations, clients, sponsorships. That list is a more realistic link plan than anything an outreach agency will sell you.

rebuilding?
Send us the address and what you do. We will look at what is there and tell you whether a rebuild is worth the money, or whether the problem is somewhere else entirely.
