Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).
How long it takes for the largest visible element on the page — usually the main image or heading block — to appear. Google's threshold for “good” is 2.5 seconds at the 75th percentile of real visits.
Why it matters.
On small business sites the usual culprits are an oversized hero image, a web font blocking text from rendering, or a slow server response. All three are fixable without redesigning anything. Static pages served from a CDN typically come in well under a second, which is the point of building that way.
How to check it yourself.
Open your home page on mobile data and count. If the main headline and image are not there by three, the usual suspect is a hero image several times larger than it needs to be.
