PIPEDA.
The federal privacy law covering personal information collected by private-sector organisations in the course of commercial activity.
Why it matters.
A contact form collects personal information, so it engages PIPEDA. The practical requirements are proportionate: say what you collect and why, use it only for that, keep it reasonably secure, and let people ask what you hold. A short, honest privacy policy and not storing what you do not need covers most of it for a small business.
How to check it yourself.
List what your contact form actually collects and where those messages are stored. Anything you cannot justify needing is something to stop collecting.

Before you decide anything
Find out whether
you have a problem.
Most people asking about a rebuild do not need one. The free check opens your site, looks at how it behaves on a phone, whether it is secure and how old the page is, and tells you which of those apply to you.

Describe the business and where it works. We come back with what we would change, what it would cost and how long it takes — or with a reason not to bother.
