528 of the business websites we opened in Toronto never name the city in a single page title. That is the most common local search fault in this market, and it is a morning of work rather than a project.

We did not sample Toronto — all 2,700 listings were checked, and each fault was counted on the page itself rather than estimated from a tool.

The listing comes first

Most local searches in Toronto end in the map, not in the blue links. 1,057 businesses here publish no opening hours on their Google listing and 1,357 have no reviews at all. Both are free to fix and both move the map pack.

Then a page per service

One page cannot rank for everything a business does. Each service gets its own page, titled the way people search rather than the way the trade talks — which is exactly the gap behind those 528 city-less titles.

How long it takes

The map pack can move within weeks. Ranking in the regular results for competitive Toronto terms realistically takes three to six months of consistent work. Anyone promising faster is selling you something.

Questions

What people ask us.

How competitive is local SEO in Toronto?

We counted 2,700 businesses listed in Toronto, with a median of 120 Google reviews. The upper quarter of the market is past 336 reviews. Competition varies enormously by trade, which is why we quote against your field rather than the city.

Is SEO included in the monthly fee?

Yes. Hosting, edits, your Google Business Profile and ongoing search work are one fee, not three.
